Türkiye’s oldest person passes away at 117
Arzu Siniroglu, recognized as Türkiye’s oldest living person at the age of 117, has passed away. She was receiving treatment at a hospital in Kirikkale when she took her last breath. Siniroglu, who lived in the Elmali village of the Delice district, leaves behind a legacy of natural living, resilience and positivity.
Life of natural living and tranquility
Known affectionately as “Arzu nine,” Siniroglu was a mother of six who attributed her longevity to a life of natural, healthy eating and inner peace. She was admired for her commitment to a lifestyle close to nature, which she believed contributed significantly to her remarkable age.
In 2020, despite contracting COVID-19, she overcame the virus and was discharged from the hospital, defying all odds at the age of 113. However, in recent years, she struggled with health issues related to old age.
Final days and farewell
After falling ill at her home, Siniroglu was admitted to the Yuksek Ihtisas Hospital in Kirikkale, where she eventually passed away. She was laid to rest in her birthplace, the village of Elmali, surrounded by her loved ones.
Active until very end
Arzu Siniroglu remained active and engaged with life until her last days. She even took part in the 2024 local elections, demonstrating her commitment to civic duties. She frequently expressed her admiration for President Erdogan, which she shared publicly on many occasions.
Throughout her life, Siniroglu’s diet consisted of natural, homegrown foods, which she believed helped her stay healthy. Her days were filled with joy, peace and a strong connection to nature.
