Türkiye has become the leading country in Europe for student dormitory capacity and service quality. With nearly 1 million dormitory beds, Türkiye surpasses Spain, the Netherlands, Germany and France combined in student housing availability.

Moreover, the cost of dormitory accommodation in Türkiye is significantly lower than in Europe, offering students an unmatched advantage.

State dorms at just $16 per month

According to the Erasmus program data and Türkiye’s Ministry of Youth and Sports‘ budget reports, student dormitory fees in Türkiye start as low as $16 per month.

In contrast, similar accommodations in Europe cost up to $825 per month in private dormitories. Türkiye’s dormitory capacity has grown exponentially from 182,000 beds in 2002 to nearly 1 million in 2025.

Premium facilities at unbeatable price

Spread across 81 provinces and 865 districts, Türkiye’s dormitories provide students with a comfortable, home-like environment. Modern dormitories feature private bathrooms, comfortable beds, wooden furniture, mini refrigerators, 24-hour hot water, high-speed free internet, and study areas. Additionally, students enjoy freshly prepared meals under the supervision of food engineers and dietitians, with special menus available for dietary needs.

For the 2024–2025 academic year, dormitory fees in Türkiye range between ₺525 and ₺855 ($16–$25 per month). In comparison, state dormitory fees in Eastern Europe range between $205 and $415, often with lower living standards than those in Türkiye. Meanwhile, private dorms across Europe can charge up to €800 per month.

Türkiye surpasses Western Europe in infrastructure

Western European countries, including Spain, the Netherlands, Germany, and France, struggle to meet student accommodation demands, with dormitories covering only 6% to 15% of student needs.

Türkiye, however, meets 97% of student housing demands, highlighting its superior dormitory infrastructure.

Accommodating more than 30 European nations combined

Since 2002, Türkiye’s student dormitory capacity has increased nearly fivefold. With its 1 million-bed capacity, Türkiye’s dormitory system could theoretically house the entire population of over 30 European countries, including Malta, Montenegro, Luxembourg, Iceland, and Andorra.

Türkiye sets standard for student dormitory

With affordable prices, top-tier services, and the largest dormitory network in Europe, Türkiye has solidified its position as the number one destination for student accommodation.

As demand for quality student housing continues to grow, Türkiye’s dormitory model sets an example for the rest of Europe.
