Türkiye’s Green Hydrogen Producers Association (H2DER) and Hungary’s Ministry of Innovation and Technology, represented by the Agency for Green Development in Mobility (HUMDA), have signed a memorandum of understanding to foster cooperation in the green hydrogen ecosystem of both countries.

According to the statement released by the association, under this agreement, representatives from both countries will seek collaboration at every stage emphasizing green hydrogen in their decarbonization goals.

The collaboration aims to increase stakeholder participation in projects that enhance data sharing and grow the hydrogen ecosystem across production, transportation, storage, and usage components.

The agreement was signed by H2DER head President Yusuf Gunay and HUMDA’s CEO Virag Meszaros.

Günay emphasized that joint efforts with HUMDA could significantly enhance Turkish-Hungarian cooperation, stating, “Türkiye’s clean energy potential is pivotal for the green hydrogen ecosystem. Rapid completion of developing legislation and infrastructure is essential for this potential. Collaboration between the two institutions will enhance mutual benefits. Particularly, the specialization in green hydrogen is a topic that will also be addressed in Hungary through us. The role of green hydrogen in achieving carbon neutrality will develop with such concrete steps.”

Meszaros said that joint efforts with H2DER will enhance mutual benefits, stating, “The EU’s 2050 goals empower collaborative efforts. We will share data from projects conducted in Hungary. We will develop the green hydrogen ecosystem as stakeholders in new projects. Collaboration is essential in achieving decarbonization goals. We are ready to develop H2DER’s concept of green hydrogen specialized zones for our country. I wish this agreement to be beneficial for both countries.”
