Kivanc Tatlitug, a well-known name for fans of Turkish series and films, has taken a significant step beyond the screen.

Known for his roles in popular dramas like “Forbidden Love” (Ask-i Memnu) and “Family” (Aile), the actor recently moved to London with his wife, Basak Dizer, and their young son, Kurt Efe.

While many assumed the move was solely for their son’s education, Tatlitug has revealed another ambition: pursuing professional culinary training at the world-renowned Le Cordon Bleu London, for which he is paying a hefty price.

Kivanc Tatlitug begins intensive culinary training in London

Tatlitug has started a three-month program at Le Cordon Bleu London, where he is learning the foundations of classic French cooking techniques. The program, conducted by experienced chefs, involves 18 to 21 hours of weekly hands-on training.

The course costs $12,500 (₺440,000), which Tatlitug reportedly paid upfront. According to Türkiye Daily, this program is held four times a year, and Tatlitug joined the winter session to immerse himself in professional-level culinary arts.

Speaking to local media, his wife, Basak Dizer, confirmed the motivation behind their move. “We came to London for Kivanc’s culinary education. This is something he’s passionate about,” she explained, dismissing rumors that the family planned to settle in the UK permanently.

Why Kivanc Tatlitug chose London, plans after culinary school

Tatlitug and Dizer rented a home in London, reportedly paying $5,000 per month and covering the full year’s rent in advance.

While they plan to reside primarily in the U.K. for now, they intend to return to Türkiye regularly. Their decision to temporarily relocate also considered their son’s early education opportunities in London.

After completing his culinary training, Tatlitug intends to open a restaurant in Istanbul’s Gokturk district. The restaurant will focus on international cuisine, reflecting the techniques and flavors he has studied.

This venture mirrors the paths of several Hollywood celebrities, such as Robert De Niro and Richard Gere, who combined their entertainment careers with culinary pursuits.
