Meteorological reports show that Türkiye will experience a brief surge in temperatures this weekend, with highs reaching 86°F (30°C) in several regions, perhaps giving a final taste of summer.

This unexpected warmth is caused by southerly winds from Algeria, bringing summer-like conditions across the country.

The Turkish State Meteorological Service stated that this weather pattern will last for three days, after which temperatures will return to more typical autumn levels.

Will temperatures increase in Türkiye before autumn?

Meteorologists predict a steady increase in temperatures by 4 to 9°F (2 to 5°C) throughout the country, particularly in the western and southern regions, where they will exceed seasonal averages.

Prof. Dr. Orhan Sen remarked, “We expect highs of 82°F in Istanbul this weekend. Izmir and Antalya, in particular, will experience temperatures surpassing 86°F.” The meteorological expert emphasized that while this is unusual for October, these weather patterns can emerge due to fluctuations in seasonal winds.

Cooler weather, rain awaits Türkiye next week

Although the weekend will bring warm and sunny weather, cooler temperatures and rain are expected to return next week. Prof. Dr. Sen warned, “After the weekend, we expect significant temperature drops across Türkiye, particularly in Istanbul, where temperatures will fall to 70°F (21°C) by Monday.”

Similar decreases are forecasted for other parts of the country, as a new weather front moves in, bringing rain to the Marmara and Aegean regions.

Meteorologists also predict that some areas may experience heavy rainfall next week, particularly in the north.

Coastal regions in the Aegean and Black Sea areas will see cooler, wetter weather by the middle of next week, leading to a sharp drop in temperatures.

This dramatic change marks the transition from warm autumnal conditions back to cooler, more typical fall weather for much of Türkiye. For now, residents and visitors can enjoy the sunny skies and warm temperatures expected over the weekend.
