Galatasaray star Mauro Icardi and Wanda Nara confirm divorce

The marriage of Galatasaray’s star striker Mauro Icardi and his wife Wanda Nara appears to be on the rocks, according to recent developments that have sent shockwaves through Turkish football circles.

Icardi, who played a pivotal role in Galatasaray’s championship-winning season and secured the top scorer title in the Trendyol Super League, has found himself at the center of media attention once again – this time for reasons off the pitch.

Speculation about the couple’s relationship status intensified when Nara reportedly unfollowed Icardi on social media, prompting rumors of an impending divorce in the Argentine press. The situation escalated when Argentine journalist Laura Ubfal shared insights from a conversation with Nara’s lawyer, Ana Rosenfeld.

“Wanda has been wanting to make this decision for a long time,” Rosenfeld reportedly told Ubfal, hinting at underlying issues in the relationship.

After a period of silence, Nara herself confirmed the separation during a live broadcast. In a message to US TV presenter Luis Ventura, she stated, “I tried once again due to personal and health issues, but it didn’t work out. Let everyone talk; I leave the things I’ve never spoken about for the end.”

Ventura shared this message on camera, effectively announcing the couple’s split to the public.

The news comes as a shock to many, particularly given Nara’s instrumental role in Icardi’s move to Galatasaray. She had previously stated, “I knew Istanbul from before, I had been on vacation with the children when Mauro wasn’t there. I convinced Mauro to move to Istanbul.”

Reflecting on their relationship’s beginnings, Nara had once shared, “Mauro was very young at the time. I already had a family. After my divorce, a relationship started between us. He understood that if he wanted to have a relationship with me, it had to be serious, and then he said he wanted to start a family with me. We got married five months after our relationship began.”
