A cat left locked inside a parked car at Ankara Esenboga Airport was rescued by police officers after concerned citizens reported the situation.
Passengers and visitors at the airport’s covered parking lot noticed the cat inside a locked vehicle and alerted the Airport Protection Branch police. Responding officers arrived at the scene and freed the cat before taking it to a veterinarian for a health check.
Authorities identified the car owner through the vehicle’s license plate and attempted to contact them. Investigations revealed that the owner had traveled abroad, leaving the cat locked inside the car before departing.
Legal action was taken against the owner under Türkiye’s Animal Protection Law No. 5199. The law prohibits the neglect and mistreatment of animals, ensuring penalties for those who fail to provide adequate care.
The cat’s condition following the rescue has not been disclosed. However, the swift response by concerned citizens and police officers helped prevent potential harm to the animal.
