A 6.3-magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of the southern Philippines, near Indonesia’s Talaud Islands in North Sulawesi province.

The quake took place at 17.17 Jakarta time (1017GMT), and was at a depth of 128 kilometers (79.5 miles).

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) reported that the quake’s epicenter was located 269 kilometers southeast of Pondaguitan, in the Mindanao region, and occurred at a depth of approximately 117 kilometers.

There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage, and no tsunami warning was issued.

The Philippines lies along the Pacific “Ring of Fire,” one of the world’s most active seismic zones.
