A seemingly innocuous piece of jewelry caused a social media storm Sunday night as actress Zendaya attended the 82nd Golden Globe Awards, fueling speculation about her relationship with actor Tom Holland.

The “Challengers” star, who received a nomination for best performance by a female actor in a motion picture musical or comedy, turned heads at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills wearing a dramatic burnt-orange Louis Vuitton ball gown. However, it was the distinctive diamond ring on her left hand that captured the internet’s attention.

The timing of the jewelry choice is particularly noteworthy, coming after Holland’s recent public comments about deliberately avoiding red carpet appearances with Zendaya to ensure the focus remains on her professional achievements rather than their relationship.

Social media platforms quickly lit up with engagement theories. On Reddit, observers meticulously analyzed every detail of the ring, with one user noting, “She knows what everyone will think and she was showing it off (this is not her default pose). It’s also got a gold band and the rest of her jewels are platinum.”

The 28-year-old actress completed her red carpet ensemble with a diamond choker and additional Bulgari pieces, including a High Jewelry necklace featuring a paraiba tourmaline and over 48 carats of diamonds. Her longtime collaborator and image architect Law Roach styled the look.

The couple, who have been publicly dating since 2021, has maintained a relatively private relationship. As Zendaya told Elle in September 2023, “Parts of my life, I accept, are going to be public. I can’t not be a person and live my life and love the person I love. But also, I do have control over what I choose to share.”
