‘Oppenheimer,’ which won seven awards, left its mark on BAFTA, which is considered the precursor of the Oscars

The winners of this year’s 77th British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) Awards were announced at a ceremony held at the Royal Albert Hall in London, the capital of England.

The movie Oppenheimer, which had 13 nominations, won seven awards, including “Best Film.” Christopher Nolan, the director of the movie, was awarded the best director award, and the leading actor Cillian Murphy was awarded the best actor award.

Robert Downey Jr., one of the movie stars, was also awarded the Best Supporting Actor award.

Nominated in 11 categories, “Poor Things” won five awards.

Emma Stone, the lead actress in the movie, won the Bafta Award for Best Actress.

“20 Days in Mariupol,” about the Ukrainian city of Mariupol, under Russian siege for a long time, won the award for best documentary.

The best British film award went to “The Zone of Interest” directed by Jonathan Glazer.

The ceremony hosted many world-famous stars. Prince William took his place in the hall after the red carpet at the BAFTA  Awards.

BAFTA awards are considered the precursor of the Oscar awards. The Oscar awards will be presented on March 10th.

Best Rising Star (voted by the public) — Mia McKenna-Bruce

Best Outstanding British Debut — Savannah Leaf, Shirley O’Connor and Medb Riordan, “Earth Mama”

Best Original Screenplay — Justine Triet and Arthur Harari, “Anatomy of a Fall”

Best Adapted Screenplay — Cord Jefferson, “American Fiction”

Best Film Not in the English Language — “The Zone of Interest”

Best Musical Score — Ludwig Goransson, “Oppenheimer”

Best Cinematography — Hoye van Hoytema, “Oppenheimer”

Best Editing — Jennifer Lame, “Oppenheimer”

Best Production Design — Shona Heath, James Price and Zsuzsa Mihalek, “Poor Things”

Best Costume Design — Holly Waddington, “Poor Things”

Best Sound — Johnnie Burn and Tarn Willers, “The Zone of Interest”

Best Casting — Susan Shopmaker, “The Holdovers”

Best Visual Effects — Simon Hughes, “Poor Things”

Best Makeup and Hair — Nadia Stacey, Mark Coulier and Josh Weston, “Poor Things”

Best Animated Film — “The Boy and the Heron”
