The iconic Sumela Monastery in Macka, Trabzon, stood as a beacon of unity and peace during a significant religious ceremony.

Perched on the slopes of Karadag, overlooking Altindere Valley, this renowned spiritual site in Türkiye hosted its 11th annual ceremony, drawing believers from across the globe.

Led by Patriarch Stefanos Dinidis of the Gelibolu Metropolis, the ceremony at Sumela Monastery – one of the most revered religious landmarks dedicated to the Virgin Mary – brought together Muslims, Christians, and international Orthodox guests.

Expressing his deep appreciation, Patriarch Dinidis highlighted the importance of this gathering. “In the presence of the Virgin Mary, we united in prayer for everlasting peace and solidarity, both in our nation and around the world,” he stated.

Dinidis extended his heartfelt thanks to Turkish officials for their support in making the event possible. “Our profound respect and gratitude go to Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, Trabzon Governor Aziz Yildirim, and Macka Mayor Koray Kochan. We also convey the blessings and greetings of our esteemed patriarch to all visitors and Orthodox believers. The hospitality of Macka’s people has been truly remarkable. We greet our Muslim brothers and all visitors, wishing them health and peace.”

The ceremony, filled with prayers and hymns, symbolized a powerful connection of faith, culture, and community at this historic site.
