Türkiye’s National Palaces see record-breaking crowds during Eid holiday
Türkiye’s National Palaces and museums experienced a surge of visitors during the Eid al-Fitr holiday
Between April 5 and 14, Topkapi Palace, Dolmabahce Palace, Beylerbeyi Palace, historical pavilions, and museums collectively welcomed 326,531 visitors, according to a statement by the Presidency of National Palaces of the Republic of Türkiye.
Dolmabahce Palace saw 60,223 visitors during the nine-day holiday period, showcasing its unique blend of Ottoman and Republican history. The palace recorded its highest number of visitors, with 11,132 people visiting on the third day of the holiday.
The National Palaces Painting Museum, the only representative of Ottoman art of painting today, attracted 21,931 visitors during the Eid holiday, establishing itself as a popular cultural and artistic destination in the city.
Ihlamur Pavilion, located in the triangle of Besiktas, Yildiz and Nisantasi, hosted 11,790 visitors.
Beylerbeyi Palace, the only palace on the Anatolian side, was visited by 20,135 people, while Kucuksu Pavilion hosted 11,115 people.
The Museum of Islamic Civilizations, which combines technology with history’s cultural and spiritual heritage, was visited by 23,435 people during the holiday. Since its opening on April 8, 2022, the museum in the Camlica Mosque complex has been free to visit.
The Beykoz Glass and Billur Museum, where the priceless glass works of the National Palaces are exhibited, had 9,676 visitors.
Ankara Palace Museum, which recently opened its doors on Feb. 21, 2024, after being meticulously converted into a museum while preserving its original historical structure, drew in a significant number of visitors during the Eid holiday. The museum, located conveniently across from the Second Parliament building in Ulus, Ankara, welcomed 14,442 visitors, likely due in part to its free admission during the holiday period.
