Turkish Museum of Troy invites Christopher Nolan ahead of ‘The Odyssey’ film release
As Christopher Nolan undertakes his next film, directing “The Odyssey,” to be released in 2026, the Turkish Museum of Troy made a public call to the film director to visit them.
The ancient city of Troy is integral to the story of Odyssey, an epic poem written by Homer.
The film follows Odysseus on his perilous journey back home after the Trojan War, capturing his encounters with iconic figures like Polyphemus, the Sirens and Circe, culminating in his emotional reunion with his wife, Penelope.
“Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film ‘The Odyssey’ is a mythic action epic shot around the globe using cutting-edge IMAX film technology,” the studio announced.
“This marks the first time Homer’s legendary tale will be brought to IMAX screens, with the film set to release on July 17, 2026.”
Message from Museum of Troy to Christopher Nolan
Dear Christopher Nolan,
We were delighted to learn that The Odyssey, which you directed, will be released in July 2026. Odysseus’s journey to Ithaca is full of adventure. But there is no doubt that he started this journey from Troy and the ten years he spent in Troy before the journey taught him a lot. Today, as the Troy Museum, we strive to preserve and perpetuate the entire Homeric heritage, including the gift of the wooden horse that the cunning Odysseus left us, a gift that carries the traces of our painful memories.
Dear Nolan, not visiting the Troy Museum and the Ancient City of Troy before this film would undoubtedly be a great deficiency. This geography, which is the source of the story, will undoubtedly be a great source of inspiration for you as it has been for many artists until today.
Don’t forget! Every road starts from Troy!
Hoping to meet in Troy as soon as possible…
