Turkish coffee was introduced at the second Doha International Coffee Exhibition, held at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center in Qatar’s capital.

The event brought together coffee enthusiasts from around the globe, with the Doha Yunus Emre Institute offering Turkish coffee for visitors to enjoy. Guests were also treated to Turkish delight, paired with the rich, traditional coffee, while being introduced to the history, cultural significance, and brewing techniques of Turkish coffee.

Türkiye’s ambassador highlights cultural legacy of Turkish coffee

Türkiye’s Ambassador to Qatar Mustafa Goksu visited the Yunus Emre Institute’s stand, serving Turkish coffee to attendees.

In a statement to Anadolu Agency, Goksu said, “Turkish coffee is not just a beverage; it symbolizes friendship, conversation, and our cultural heritage. Participating in this festival is a valuable opportunity to introduce Turkish culture to both Qataris and international visitors.”

Capturing hearts and taste buds with Turkish coffee’s unique story

Professor Ahmet Uysal, coordinator of the Doha Yunus Emre Institute, added that attendees were captivated by the story behind Turkish coffee and enjoyed the unique taste.

“We have reintroduced Turkish coffee to the world here in Qatar. Our guests not only learned about its significance in Turkish culture but also had the chance to savor it,” Uysal noted.

Cultural exchange strengthening ties between Türkiye and Qatar

The expo, which runs until Sept. 28, offers visitors from around the world a closer look at coffee culture.

It is expected to strengthen cultural ties between Türkiye and Qatar and promote Turkish coffee on the global stage.

Turkish coffee was recognized as an intangible cultural heritage by UNESCO on Dec. 5, 2013, and since then, Dec. 5 has been celebrated as World Turkish Coffee Day.
