Turkish, Chinese artists meet in Beijing with ‘Ink and Color Fusion’

In a celebration of artistic exchange, Beijing recently played host to the “Ink and Color Fusion” exhibition. This showcase, organized by the Yunus Emre Institute in Beijing and the Turkish Embassy, featured works by both Turkish and Chinese artists, offering a platform for cultural dialogue through the mediums of ink and color.
It showcased the works of Turkish artists Tulay Musa and Suna Kocal, as well as Chinese artists Xiao Haiming and Zou Youliang, who employed various techniques in their creations.
At the opening of the exhibition, Türkiye’s Ambassador to Beijing Ismail Hakki Musa emphasized the historical connection between Türkiye and China through the ancient Silk Road. He highlighted that this connection has fostered a common cultural ground between the peoples of both nations, extending beyond trade to cultural exchanges.
Ambassador Musa stressed the embassy’s commitment to not only political and economic relations but also cultural interactions, stating, “What remains from history is nothing but culture.”
Following the opening ceremony, the artworks of the four artists were displayed to the audience, attracting significant interest from Chinese art enthusiasts. Turkish artist Tulay Musa explained that her glass painting technique allows her to explore various subjects freely, creating pieces that range from landscapes to futuristic themes and references to Turkish-Ottoman figures.
Regarding her glass painting of a whirling dervish, Musa remarked, “In the rhythms of the Mevlevi dervishes’ whirls, I tried to reflect the immaterial, the friendship, peace, and sublimity we feel in our hearts. In a time when the world needs peace and goodness, invoking Mevlana gave me pride.”
The other featured Turkish artist, Suna Kocal, presented examples of the art of marbling and conducted a live marbling workshop for visitors.
Chinese artist Zou Youliang contributed with his ink paintings, while Xiao Haiming showcased his calligraphy works, adding to the diversity and richness of the exhibition.
