A remarkable rock tomb discovered in the courtyard of a house in Sanliurfa’s Eyyubiye neighborhood has been officially added to the cultural inventory, according to a statement by Sanliurfa Governor Hasan Sildak.

The registration of the tomb is part of the Cultural Inventory Project, highlighting the significance of this new find. The rock tomb features a single-room structure adorned with captivating reliefs.

Ancient reliefs and mysterious inscription

Governor Sildak shared that the tomb contains a relief of a man lying on his left arm on one wall. The other two corners feature double-winged female reliefs, adding to the tomb’s unique character.

Additional reliefs can also be found in different parts of the room.

The inner side of the entrance door holds a red ochre-painted inscription. According to Governor Sildak, due to damage, the inscription remains illegible, adding an air of mystery to the site.

This rock tomb stands out from similar discoveries in the region with its distinct interior decorations and enigmatic inscription, offering new insights into the area’s ancient cultural heritage.
