A photography exhibition on Canakkale Victory has opened in Khazakhstan’s Astana, ahead of 18 March Martyrs Remembrance Day and the Canakkale Victory
Astana Yunus Emre Institute Turkish Cultural Center has opened a photography exhibition on the Canakkale Victory at the Military History Museum of the Armed Forces of Kazakhstan.
The exhibition’s opening ceremony was attended by Ambassador of Türkiye to Astana Mustafa Kapucu, Head of the Department of Education and Ideological Studies of the Ministry of Defense of Kazakhstan Col. Tleuhan Baskojayev, Kazakhstan Parliament Deputies Abzal Kuspan and Guldara Nurumova, Acting Director of Astana Yunus Emre Institute Turkish Cultural Center Almagul Isina, among others.
During the ceremony, the National Defense Ministry shared a video to mark 18 March Martyrs’ Remembrance Day, and Kazakhstan’s Defense Ministry band played the military anthem.
In his speech, Kapucu announced that they would celebrate the 109th anniversary of the Canakkale naval victory on March 18. He said, “The historic victory over the enemy on March 18, 1915, is one of the most honorable and brightest pages in the history of Turkish heroism. I am very happy to come together at the opening ceremony of this meaningful exhibition.”
Kapucu pointed out that this victory symbolizes the Turkish nation’s struggle for existence. “At the same time, it is the expression of a spirit of determination, courage and love of homeland. The Turkish nation gave hope to all oppressed people with its unique struggle in Canakkale, and many countries under colonization started their own struggles with the inspiration they received from Canakkale and later from our War of Independence.”
Kapucu emphasizes the Canakkale Victory as a significant triumph for Türkiye and the Turkish people. He highlights its inspiring nature for those struggling against oppression, who found hope and resilience in the Turkish resistance.
“Today, we have come together to commemorate this great victory and to remember one of the important turning points in our history. The photographs in the exhibition will remind us of what it took to achieve this great victory and will help us convey this heroic epic to future generations.”
Kapucu said that the ties of friendship and brotherhood between Türkiye and Kazakhstan have remained strong throughout history. “This exhibition once again shows how deep these ties are. It is a source of great satisfaction for us that the brotherly people of Kazakhstan understand the importance of the Canakkale naval victory and appreciate how valuable it is for the Turkish nation.”
The exhibition, which includes approximately 40 photographs from the General Staff archive, will remain open to visitors until March 20.
