Neolithic era unearthed through rare wild donkey figure in Türkiye’s Karahantepe

In a significant archaeological breakthrough at Karahantepe, Sanliurfa, a rare wild donkey figure carved into stone has been unearthed. This discovery provides valuable insights into the Neolithic era, enhancing our understanding of this ancient period.
The site, known for its over 250 “T”-shaped megaliths, continues to reveal secrets from the past through ongoing excavation efforts.
Uncovering wild donkey figure
Led by professor Necmi Karul, the excavation team discovered the wild donkey figure intricately etched into the stone flooring at Karahantepe.
This depiction is the first of its kind found on-site and suggests that similar artifacts may be hidden within the layers of the ancient settlement.
Karul highlighted the significance of this find, noting that it opens up the possibility of uncovering more such figures.
