Mont Saint Michel stands out with its architecture reminiscent of the Middle Ages

Located in the Normandy region of France, Mont Saint Michel attracts attention with its Middle Ages-inspired architecture. 

The historical peninsula located on the shores of the English Channel takes on the appearance of an island when the sea is high due to high tide. 

Mont Saint Michel is renowned for its staggering tidal shifts, with some of the highest differences between high and low tide in the world, second only to locations like Canada.

Built as a small church in 709, Mont Saint Michel was built in the 12th and 13th centuries. In the 19th century, it became an influential monastery and an important center of worship for the Christian world in the West. 

In addition to being a meeting place for influential politicians and intellectuals in the Middle Ages, Mont Saint Michel was visited by many pilgrims for centuries, including many French and English kings.

Mont Saint Michel’s structure, reminiscent of the Tide and the Middle Ages, was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1979.
