What are key features of restoration of Syriac Bazaar?
Ayhan Gok, provincial director of Culture and Tourism, recently inspected the progress of the restoration at the Syriac Bazaar.
He reported that substantial restoration and repairs had been completed on the bazaar’s 65 shops.
Supported by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the project also involved health measures for approximately 600 meters of surrounding streets.
How will bazaar’s restoration impact Dargecit’s tourism?
The restoration, which took about 1.5 years, is expected to be completed within the next two weeks, with the shops slated to be handed over to the public soon.
The project includes restoring the bazaar to its original state and installing new lighting systems.
This revitalized bazaar is set to become a major tourist attraction, drawing visitors with its historical charm.
What are expected benefits of revitalized Syriac Bazaar?
“The completed restoration will not only enhance the bazaar’s visual appeal but also make it a sought-after destination for tourists,” Gok stated. “This development will provide a significant boost to Dargecit’s tourism sector.”
The restoration of the Syriac Bazaar is a key initiative in preserving Mardin’s historical heritage and promoting its tourism potential. This project highlights the commitment to maintaining the area’s cultural legacy while encouraging economic growth through increased visitor interest.
