Iranian icons Shajarian, Rohani enchant Istanbul with fusion of East and West

Esteemed Iranian artists Homayoun Shajarian and Anoushiravan Rohani performed an unforgettable concert at Ulker Sports Arena, captivating a diverse audience with a harmonious blend of classical Iranian melodies and Western music elements.

Shajarian, a renowned vocalist and master of Iranian traditional music, and Rohani, a celebrated composer and pianist, expressed their delight at reconnecting with their fans in Istanbul.

The concert was structured in two parts, showcasing an impressive repertoire that resonated with the multicultural audience. A special gesture came from Turkish diva Emel Sayin, who sent a floral arrangement that caught the crowd’s attention.

Legacy of mastery and innovation

Shajarian, who discovered his passion for rhythm at age five with the Iranian drum tombak, went on to master the kamancheh, a traditional Iranian string instrument.

His dedication led him to focus on this instrument while studying at the Tehran Music Conservatory. Recently, he collaborated with Sami Yusuf on a new track, “Existentia.”

Rohani has built an international following with his unique talent for merging Eastern and Western musical heritage, creating a dynamic bridge that defies geographical boundaries and introduces global audiences to the richness of Iranian music.
