‘History’s masterpieces’: Renowned calligraphers exhibition opens in Bursa
Yildiz Holding has added a new exhibition to its series of art displays organized in various cities across Türkiye, aiming to bring its art collection to a broader audience.
Following successful exhibitions in Bursa, Ankara, Konya and Edirne with the “Talking Writings” exhibition, Yildiz Holding now presents “Famous Calligraphers in the Flow of History,” featuring exquisite examples of Traditional Islamic Art.
This exhibition, showcasing works of husn-i calligraphy signed by esteemed calligraphers, opened to art enthusiasts at the Bursa Birlik Foundation Akif Emre Cultural Center on May 29.
Attracting significant attention
Highlighting Bursa’s significant role in the art of calligraphy as the birthplace of the Ottoman Empire, Yildiz Holding Board Member Attorney Ibrahim Taskin said: “We place great importance on making the works in the Yildiz Holding collection accessible to a wide audience. Last year, we presented the ‘Talking Writings Exhibition’ at our Camlica campus in Istanbul. Now, we are delighted to bring this exhibition to the residents of Bursa at the Birlik Foundation headquarters.”
Maintaining that, the organization is thrilled to present the exhibition to Bursa’s art enthusiasts, Taksin said: “Featuring 41 rare works of calligraphy by renowned artists, our exhibition offers a visual journey through the art of calligraphy, inviting viewers to contemplate their meanings. We believe the ‘Famous Calligraphers in the Flow of History’ exhibition will attract great interest in Bursa, and we warmly invite all art lovers in the city to visit.”
Meanwhile, Yildiz Holding art consultant Esra Goncuoglu said: “The exhibition presents the works of great masters from the 17th to the 20th centuries, along with precious contemporary calligraphic pieces, in a chronological order from past to present.”
“It features 41 works by 24 calligraphers. Our Yildiz Holding ‘Talking Writings’ exhibition first opened in Bursa and then traveled to Konya, Edirne, and Ankara. Now, for the second time in Bursa, we are delighted to bring these works to the city’s art lovers again with the exhibition ‘Famous Calligraphers in the Flow of History.’
The exhibition includes works by Hafiz Osman, Sultan Ahmed III, Mahmud Jalaleddin Efendi, Sultan Mahmud II, Kazasker Mustafa Izzet Efendi, Sami Efendi, Hamid Aytac and important calligraphers of today, such as Hasan Celebi, Ali Toy, Mehmed Ozcay and Ferhat Kurlu.
The “Famous Calligraphers in the Flow of History” exhibition can be visited free of charge every day between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. until June 14.
