Francophone Film Festival to welcome moviegoers in March
From March 21 to April 30, Turkish cinephiles will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in French cinema at the Francophone Film Festival which will feature 12 long and four short films
The Francophone Film Festival will present a selection of mostly unreleased French films in Türkiye from March 21 to April 30.
According to the statement made by Ankara Institut Francais, the Francophone Film Festival, organized in partnership with the embassies of Switzerland, Belgium, Canada, Luxembourg and Poland, aims to promote the French language and the cultures of French-speaking countries that are members or observers of the International Organization of the Francophonie and aims to promote creativity, artistic expression and intercultural dialogue.
The festival’s 2024 selection features masterpieces of Francophone cinema as well as documentaries and innovative independent films. Art lovers will have the opportunity to watch 12 feature films and four short films.
This year’s host cities and districts include Istanbul, Izmir, Ankara, Bursa, Adana, Ayvalik, Diyarbakir, Gaziantep, Canakkale, Luleburgaz, Eskisehir and Mersin.
From March 21 to April 30, moviegoers will have the opportunity to discover a wide selection of new and mostly unreleased films in cities across Türkiye. These partnerships emphasize the importance of international cooperation in supporting the arts and cultural diversity.
In Istanbul, a parallel program at the Institut Francais as well as at the Beyoglu cinema will take place as part of the festival.
The festival has partnered with Ankara Haci Bayram Veli University for communication and Izmir International Short Film Festival for the programming of the short films.
This year’s Francophone Film Festival will take place across three locations in Türkiye. The festival runs from March 21st to 30th at the Institut Francais in Istanbul, while in Ankara, it will be held at the Buyulu Fener Cinema in Kizilay from March 21st to 29th. The Institut Francais in Izmir will also host the festival from March 21st to 29th.
Unscreened award-winning films
Florent Signifredi, audiovisual attache and event manager of Institut Francais Türkiye, expressed his delight at the wonderful program that will showcase unique, powerful and diverse films that will appeal to a very wide audience.
