Berk Atan, star of the Turkish public broadcaster TRT 1’s hit comedy-drama Gonul Dagi, was reportedly involved in a car accident Friday evening while traveling from Istanbul to the show’s filming location in Sivrihisar and is said to be in critical condition.

The accident occurred when the crew vehicle carrying Atan rolled over multiple times according to a Turkish media outlet Diziler. Atan sustained serious injuries, including fractures to his spine and ribs, and was rushed to a nearby hospital. His condition is currently described as critical.

Berk Atan: From modeling to acting

Atan, born Sept. 26, 1991, in Izmir, is of Bosnian descent on his father’s side. He rose to national fame after being named one of the “Best Promises” in the 2011 Best Model of Turkey competition and went on to win the title in 2012.

He made his acting debut in the television series Her Sey Yolunda, portraying Selcuk Demircioglu. Atan is best known for his leading role in Gonul Dagi, which has aired for four seasons on TRT 1. He also starred as Savas in the youth drama Gunesin Kizlari and played Selim in Cennetin Gozyaslari.
