Within the scope of March 8 International Women’s Day in Paris, the opening of the exhibition featuring the works of four Turkish female painters took place
To mark International Women’s Day in Paris, the Yunus Emre Institute opened an exhibition featuring the works of female Turkish painters Melek Art, Suzan Ay, Zeliha Bozoglu, and Figen Begen.
The works exhibited in two different rooms at the institute were appreciated by Turkish and French art enthusiasts.
The four female painters from Türkiye who attended the exhibition’s opening were able to introduce their works and sources of inspiration to the visitors.
Bozoglu, renowned for incorporating handmade lace into her portraits of Anatolian women under the theme “From Future to Future,” showcased her artwork titled “Yoruk Girl.” The piece portrays a young girl wearing traditional local attire.
The vivid colors, floral motifs and beads used on the canvases of the painter Art, who has been exhibiting her works for about 36 years, attracted the attention of visitors.
Inspired by Mevlana Celaleddin Rumi in his paintings, artist Begen’s paintings depicting birds and painter Ay’s 3D works were also included in the exhibition.
At the opening night, attended by Celine Aydin, director of the Yunus Emre Institute in Paris, visitors also saw the photography exhibition “In the Light of Women.”
Curated by Mehmet Aslan, the photography exhibition includes works by female Turkish photographers, including Anadolu Agency photojournalists.
