European Cinema Days premiere in Türkiye’s capital Ankara

The premiere of the European Cinema Days, organized by a Delegation of the European Union to Türkiye and the embassies of EU member states, was held at the Buyulu Fener Cinema in the Turkish capital Ankara with the participation of the Head of the EU Delegation Nikolaus Meyer-Landrut, Ambassador of Ukraine to Ankara Vasyl Bodnar, Ambassador of Germany to Ankara Jürgen Schulz, Ambassador of Latvia to Ankara Peteris Vaivars and many guests.
The movie “Stepne,” directed by Ukrainian Maryna Vroda, was screened at the gala.
Bodnar and Meyer-Landrut made speeches at the opening of the gala.
Bodnar expressed his happiness about the screening of Ukrainian films for the audience in the friendly country Türkiye and said, “This year, the projection of a Ukrainian film on the silver screen and the decision to launch Ukraine’s accession negotiations to the EU are together. This has a symbolic meaning in itself.”
Noting that these steps represent Europe’s support for Ukraine, Bodnar said, “This gesture has a special meaning at a time when we are struggling for existence and resisting Russian aggression.”
Bodnar emphasized his gratitude for the assistance the EU has provided and continues to provide to Ukraine, saying that Ukraine is an integral part of Europe.
European Cinema Days
More than 10 films will be screened in Ankara on April 16-21 and in Istanbul from April 30 to May 5.
Films shot in many European countries will be screened in Antalya, Denizli, Diyarbakir, Edirne, Eskisehir, Izmir, Samsun and Trabzon on May 8-12.
