A crew member working in the studio of Marvel’s new series “Wonder Man” fell from a high beam and died on set
A crew member of Marvel’s new series “Wonder Man,” currently filming at the Radford Studio Center in Los Angeles, fell to his death from high beams while working to erect scaffolding during downtime.
“Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with his family and friends and we stand behind the investigation into the circumstances of this accident,” a Marvel official said in a statement after the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) launched an investigation into the incident.
While the name of the deceased employee has not yet been released, “Wonder Man” was scheduled to resume filming in March after being postponed due to recent strikes in Hollywood.
The individual who passed away has been identified by the L.A. County coroner as Juan Carlos Osorio, a rigger from Temple City, according to a report by Variety. Close acquaintances of Osorio, who was affectionately known as Spike, have initiated a GoFundMe campaign to support his spouse, who is also employed in the film sector as a boom operator.
Although deaths and serious injuries are rare in movie studios, the recent increase in injuries and deaths has drawn attention.
On the set of the movie “Rust”, cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was killed and director Joel Souza was injured by a bullet from a blank gun fired by Alec Baldwin.
In June 2023, seven crew members were injured when a stunt scene went wrong during the “Gladiator II” shooting in Morocco.
