Exploring one of World’s first cities
Catalhoyuk, known as one of the earliest examples of urban settlement, is a treasure trove of archaeological findings. The site offers insights into a Neolithic community of around 8,000 people who lived in homes without doors, accessed only through rooftops.
The Visitor Center, established by Konya Metropolitan Municipality, highlights these unique features through interactive and digital displays, showcasing replicas of wall paintings, animal remains, figurines, and early agricultural tools.
‘Step into 9,000-year-old Catalhoyuk’s home’
Gulsun Ergen, manager of the Catalhoyuk Promotion and Visitor Center, described the center as an innovative space designed to deepen understanding of Neolithic life.
Visitors spend around 1.5 to 2 hours exploring interactive exhibits. They can step into a model house that replicates life as it was 9,000 years ago. Imagine being inside a home where a Neolithic family once lived – it’s an extraordinary experience
