Bozlak folk songs echo in historical site during Tourism Week
Kirikkale’s Tourism Week celebration featured a concert with renowned bozlak folk music at the historical Seljuk-era Cesnigir Bridge
Kirikkale Culture and Tourism Directorate celebrated Tourism Week with a concert held at the historical Cesnigir Bridge and Canyon, a stunning landmark that stretches over the Kizilirmak River in Central Anatolia.
The Cesnigir Bridge and Canyon provided a breathtaking backdrop where history and nature intertwined. The air resonated with the melodies of bozlak folk songs performed by a renowned “masters ensemble.” Local dancers took center stage with the rhythmic beats of drums and zurnas.
Deputy Governor Mustafa Erkayiran and Karakecili District Governor Ali Can Uludag expressed their gratitude to the event organizers. Provincial Culture and Tourism Director Erdogan Cakmak, speaking to an IHA reporter, highlighted their aim of using this unique setting to raise awareness for Tourism Week.
Elaborating on the purpose of the event, Provincial Culture and Tourism Director Erdogan Cakmak said: “We hosted a free concert for visitors, featuring our directorate’s masters ensemble. It was a delightful celebration of local culture, with traditional music, games and a halay performance.”
‘A place with a long history’
Providing a deeper look into the venue’s significance, Cakmak said, “The place we are in is steeped in history. Right next to us is Buklukale, an ancient settlement dating back to 3,000 B.C. There is the Cesnigir Bridge from the Seljuk period that was once part of the Silk Road. And all of this overlooks the magnificent Kiizilirmak River cutting through the canyon. It is a beautiful place where natural beauty and rich history comes together. It is a good place in terms of tourism.”
“I would like to invite our people, especially those interested in domestic tourism seeking landscapes. They can come here, take a trip to the canyon, join boat tours, visit the bridge, and spend time on the viewing terraces.”
