Ankara’s Ayranci Bazaar, held monthly, offers a treasure trove of antiques, from records to everyday items, with a collector showcasing eyeglasses possibly worn by the legendary Zeki Muren
The bazaar, held on the first Sunday of every month in Ayranci Neighborhood in Ankara’s Cankaya district, is a treasure trove for antique enthusiasts. From aged ornaments and timeworn clocks to vintage records, unique lamps, and antique jewelry, the bazaar offers a range of historical finds from various regions of Türkiye and beyond. This market attracts not only residents of Ankara but also antique hunters from other Turkish cities and foreigners living in the capital.
One of the must-see stalls belongs to Koksal Gulcemal, who began collecting as a hobby 20 years ago and turned it into a profession.
Among Gulcemal’s treasures, a pair of eyeglasses is sure to catch the eye of music lovers. These are claimed to be the very glasses worn by the legendary composer and singer Zeki Muren.
Gulcemal told Anadolu Agency (AA) correspondent that he collects antique items by traveling all over Türkiye.
Stating stall offers many treasures for every taste, such as vintage telephones, cassettes, records, and copperware, but Gulcemal stated that the most valuable product on his counter is the glasses he said belonged to Zeki Muren.
Gulcemal argued that, based on his research, he determined that Muren wore the glasses when he participated in Yasemin Bozkurt’s program broadcast on TRT in the 1980s.
