Art Meydan transforms Ankara’s streets into living art galleries
As part of the vibrant Culture Route Festival, the “Art Meydan” event has turned the city’s public spaces into dynamic art galleries. This innovative initiative has allowed residents and visitors alike to experience the magic of art in real time.
The event, held in Ulus Square and Haci Bayram Veli Square, gave attendees the unique opportunity to observe artists at work, learning about various painting techniques firsthand.
Passersby could stop and watch as vibrant art took shape in real time.
Connecting people with art
Suleyman Karakul, a participating painter, emphasized the aim of bringing art closer to the people. “The goal of this event is to connect the public with the world of art,” Karakul said in an interview with Anadolu Agency.
“It’s a visual feast that encourages interest in painting, creating dialogue between artists and the public, which is a truly wonderful experience.”
Art to find new home in public libraries
Project Coordinator and artist Mehmet Ali Dogan noted that this is the fourth time the event has taken place in Ankara.
He explained that the completed paintings will be donated by the artists and later displayed in public libraries.
“We aim to transform libraries into special spaces where art lives and thrives,” Dogan said.
The “Art Meydan” event continues to strengthen the bond between art and community, highlighting the importance of public spaces in fostering creativity and cultural exchange.
