9th Traveling Balkan Panorama Film Festival commences in Edirne
Governor Yunus Sezer of Edirne, speaks at the opening of the festival at Trakya University’s Turkan Sabanci Cultural Center, emphasizing Edirne’s rich heritage as a city of civilization and culture.
Sezer emphasized the importance of film festivals in the realm of culture and the arts, saying, “Not every city hosts film festivals.” Discussing art is in harmony with the city’s aesthetics and culture. I believe that artistic events are extremely important.”
Sezer also pointed out Edirne’s progress in culture, arts, and tourism.
Sezer drew attention to Edirne’s natural and historical allure, which resembles a film set. He mentioned the establishment of a film set in the city, with initial plans to film two movies there.
Festival to visit 5 cities
Prof. Dr. Erhan Tabakoglu, the Rector of Trakya University, said that 30 film clips from the Balkan region will be presented to art enthusiasts during the festival.
The festival’s founder and director, Dr. Sali Saliji, stressed that this is Türkiye’s first traveling film festival.
Saliji noted that while the main center of the Balkan Panorama Film Festival is in Izmir, the Traveling Balkan Panorama Film Festival’s headquarters will be in Edirne.
Saliji added that the festival will visit 5 more cities.
Following the opening, the film “Koridor,” directed by Erkan Tahhusoglu and starring Emel Goksu and Ayse Demirel, was screened.
Actress Goksu highlighted Edirne’s significant potential in the cinema sector, expressing excitement about the upcoming film set and her desire to act in a film shot in the city.
The festival will conclude on May 24.
