The 52nd Istanbul Music Festival, organized by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts with the sponsorship of Borusan Holding, featured the world-renowned pianist Maria Joao Pires.
The concert, sponsored by Isbank, took place at the Lutfi Kirdar Convention and Exhibition Center.
The artist, who performed alongside the Festival Strings Lucerne in Beethoven’s Piano Concerto, returned as a guest to the festival after an eight-year hiatus.
Arthur Honegger’s “Pastorale d’ete, H 31” and Ludwig van Beethoven’s “Piano Concerto No. 3” and “Pastoral Symphony” were performed during the concert, which lasted approximately 2.5 hours.
The festival, which will feature Khatia Buniatishvili on June 1, the Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra and the Hungarian National Choir on June 2, and the Budapest Festival Orchestra with Francesco Piemontesi on June 3, will conclude on June 12.
