The vibrant cultural festival brings together audiences from Türkiye and Balkan region, says Bursa State Theater Director Arzu Tan Bayraktutan

The 11th Bursa International Balkan Countries Theater Festival, which includes groups from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, North Macedonia, Serbia, and other countries, has garnered immense interest from art lovers since it began on March 1.

Bursa State Theater Director Arzu Tan Bayraktutan told Anadolu Agency that they are happy to receive an overwhelming response from theatre lovers worldwide –especially Balkan countries.

Sharing that for the first time this year, the plays were put on show on nine different stages, Bayraktutan said: “With the plays performed by six Balkan countries and 19 local and foreign groups, the festival vibe has permeated across the city this year.”

Turkish texts of plays in different languages are shown on the stage with overhead and side texts so that the audience can easily understand.

The festival is on its way to becoming a brand, the director said, adding: “There are cultural ties between Bursa and the Balkans. Many Balkan immigrants live in Bursa. This artistic and cultural festival brings them together.”

It was reported that the tickets for the festival, which will continue until March 10, are almost sold out.
