Widespread outages reported across the world
The first outage occurred Monday, with over 21,000 users in the U.S. and more than 10,800 in the U.K. reporting issues with the platform according to Reuters.
The disruption lasted approximately 45 minutes before service was restored around 2:30 a.m. PT.

Elon Musk says it was a cyber attack
Elon Musk, the owner of the social media platform in question, said that the problem experienced on X since the morning hours was caused by a “cyber attack”.
“There has been a major cyber attack against X,” Musk shared from his official account on X.
“We get attacked every day, but this was from multiple sources. Either a large, coordinated group or a country was involved,” Musk said, adding that they are following the issue.
Musk noted that the attack is still ongoing.

X’s history of technical issues
Since Musk’s acquisition of the platform in 2022, X has faced multiple technical disruptions, including login failures, timeline glitches, and issues with loading content.
