Meta is reportedly developing a new widget for WhatsApp on Android to allow users to quickly interact with the Meta AI chatbot directly from the home screen.

According to a report by feature tracker WABetaInfo, the widget focuses on enhancing the user experience of Meta AI, which was added to WhatsApp in 2024 to enable chats with Meta’s AI-powered bot.

However, the new feature is not yet available for beta testers as it is still under development. The feature is expected to be included in WhatsApp’s 2.25.1.27 beta update for Android.

Whatsapp to integrate Meta AI’s image bot

Reports anticipate that the widget will be a 4 x 1 widget with a light grey background, a white text field, and a camera icon, allowing users to quickly upload an image and search, similar to Google Search.

Users will be able to ask the AI chatbot to provide information about the images or to edit them, reports suggest.

This will be the second Android widget for the application, as WhatsApp currently has one other widget that allows users to view multiple messages but does not enable them to write or send messages through the interface.
