TUSIAD president Turan detained, under investigation

The Turkish Industry and Business Association’s (TUSIAD) President Orhan Turan is under investigation after being detained on Wednesday afternoon.

The development comes after a spat broke out between the business association and the government after TUSIAD released highly critical statements about the government’s management of sensitive topics.

Investigations are onoing for TUSIAD President Orhan Turan and Chairman of the High Advisory Council Mehmet Omer Arif Aras by Istanbul’s Chief Public Prosecutor.

An investigation has been initiated ex officio against the suspect Orhan TURHAN for the crimes of ‘Publicly Disseminating Misleading Information’ and ‘Attempting to Influence Fair Trial’. Instructions have been given to the Istanbul Police Department Security Branch Directorate to ensure that suspects Orhan TURHAN and Mehmet Omer Arif ARAS are present at our Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office.
