Türkiye’s Trade Ministry and business world agree on cooperation for stability in Syria
Türkiye’s Trade Ministry, business chambers and civil society organizations (CSOs) agreed on “the need for strong cooperation to establish political and economic stability in the new period in Syria,” the ministry stated on Tuesday.
According to the statement from the Trade Ministry, Minister Omer Bolat hosted a meeting with representatives from 16 business chambers and CSOs engaged in economic and trade activities on Tuesday, to explore ways to advance economic and trade relations with Syria in the context of a new era of collaboration.
The discussions reportedly centered on Türkiye’s potential role in Syria’s reconstruction and the strengthening of its economy, highlighting opportunities for cooperation between the two nations, the statement read.
‘Our top priority is to establish national unity in Syria’
The ministry underlined Türkiye’s commitment to supporting Syria’s stability, remarking “Our top priority in this new period is to establish sustainable national unity and a state structure that ensures peace and security in Syria as soon as possible.”
The statement further acknowledged the challenges Syria has faced over the past 13 years, referencing the widespread damage to its infrastructure and the hardships endured by its people. It also noted Türkiye’s historical role in hosting approximately 3.5 million Syrians fleeing conflict, reaffirming the importance of ongoing solidarity.
During the meeting, participants underscored the need for trade, investment, and reconstruction efforts in Syria. The ministry noted that these initiatives would be carried out with a focus on humanitarian principles and a shared sense of fraternity.
