Türkiye’s passenger car sales decline by 4.1% in Q1 2025

Türkiye’s passenger car sales decreased by 4.1% year-on-year, with 223,793 units sold in the first quarter of 2025, according to data released on Thursday.
In total, the country’s automotive market – encompassing both passenger cars and light commercial vehicles – saw a 6.5% decline, reaching 276,284 units in January-March, data from the Automotive Distributors’ and Mobility Association (ODMD) revealed. Traditional internal combustion engine vehicles experienced substantial declines. Sales of petrol cars fell by 29%, while diesel vehicle sales dropped by 26.8%.
Sales of light commercial vehicles were also hit dropping by 15.5%, with 52,491 units sold in the first three months of the year.

Growth of electric cars, hybrids
However, electric and hybrid cars stood out as exceptions to the negative trend. Hybrid vehicle sales surged, making up 28.5% of total car sales, nearly double last year’s numbers, with 63,884 units sold.
Electric vehicle sales also saw a significant increase, rising by 78.8% year-on-year to 29,594 units, which now represent 13.2% of the overall market.
