Türkiye’s food inflation reaches 11-month high in February, says TEPAV

Food inflation in Türkiye surged to its highest level in nearly a year, with the TEPAV Food Price Index (TFPI) recording a 3.70% increase in February, according to the Economic Policy Research Foundation of Türkiye (TEPAV) data.

Monthly, annual food price trends

TEPAV’s February report highlighted that food price inflation for January and February reached its highest levels since March 2024.

The data showed that:

  • TEPAV Food Price Index (TFPI): +3.70% (monthly increase)
  • Annual Food Inflation: +30.8%
  • Turk-Is Kitchen Inflation: +5.39% (monthly), +43.5% (annual)
  • ICOC Wage Earners’ Cost of Living Index (CPI): +2.55% (monthly), +42.4% (annual)

Price changes in key food categories

In the fresh fruit and vegetable category, the highest price increases were observed in:

  • Pomegranate
  • Zucchini
  • Orange

Conversely, the biggest price declines were seen in:

  • Cauliflower
  • Lettuce
  • Red cabbage

Among non-produce food products, the most significant price increases were recorded in:

  • Fish
  • Packaged sugar
  • Phyllo dough

Meanwhile, tea, instant coffee, and sunflower seeds saw price decreases.
