Türkiye’s cutting-edge AI project aims to revolutionize public spending efficiency

Finance Minister Mehmet Simsek announced a new initiative to enhance efficiency and savings in public spending on Sunday.

We will implement the AI Supported Accounting and Advanced Analytics Project to ensure efficiency, quality, speed and savings in public expenditures with an early warning system.

This project aims to streamline processes, reduce bureaucratic inefficiencies and ensure effective resource utilization. Simsek emphasized the importance of leveraging modern information technologies to centralize accounting services, thereby accelerating business processes without compromising service quality.

In a detailed interview, Simsek highlighted the ministry’s meticulous planning and gradual implementation of savings measures in line with the Presidential Savings Measures Circular.

The AI-supported project, developed by the General Directorates of Accounting and Information Technologies, will focus on eliminating inefficient expenditure areas, enhancing decision-making and establishing a risk-focused financial audit infrastructure.

This initiative is part of the Integrated Public Financial Management Information System, aiming to analyze expenditures, identify savings opportunities and provide institutionalized spending recommendations.

Simsek noted that TUBITAK Informatics and Information Security Research Center is the project’s technology partner, and preliminary work is expected to be completed within two months, with full implementation within 12 months.

The project will utilize AI methods on data related to various financial activities, contributing significantly to the effectiveness of internal and external audits.

This effort supports the Presidential Savings Measures Circular, aiming to add substantial value to Türkiye’s economy.
