Türkiye’s central government gross debt hits $251B
The gross debt stock of Türkiye‘s central government has been reported at ₺8 trillion 649.3 billion ($251 billion) as of the end of September.
According to data released by the Ministry of Treasury and Finance, this debt comprises ₺3.56 trillion ($104 billion) in Turkish lira and ₺5.1 trillion ($148.6 billion) in foreign currency debts.
The ministry disclosed these figures on October 21, 2024, highlighting the growing financial obligations faced by the government.
The current gross debt stock reflects ongoing economic conditions and fiscal policies in the country.
As of Sept. 30, the total gross debt stock has significantly increased, raising concerns among economists and policymakers regarding its sustainability and the potential impact on Türkiye’s economy.
