Türkiye’s BOTAS, Gazprom discuss energy cooperation in St. Petersburg

Türkiye’s state-owned pipeline operator, BOTAS, (Petroleum Pipeline Corporation), and Russian energy giant Gazprom convened in St. Petersburg on April 16, 2025, to address ongoing cooperation and future strategic goals.
According to a statement from BOTAS, the meeting underscored the nearly 40-year energy partnership between the two companies and focused on mutual energy interests.
The BOTAS delegation was led by Chairman and General Manager Abdulvahit Fidan, accompanied by Deputy General Manager Mithat Aydin and Deputy Head of the Natural Gas Procurement and Export Department Mehtap Bolat. Representing Gazprom were CEO Alexey Miller and Gazprom Export General Director Dmitry Khandoga, along with other senior company officials.

Focus on short- and long-term cooperation in energy supply
During the meeting, both sides reviewed short- and long-term steps aimed at enhancing cooperation based on mutual benefit. Discussions highlighted shared priorities in ensuring uninterrupted energy supply and strengthening regional and global energy ties.
In its official statement, BOTAS said: “BOTAS, as a key player in energy supply for Türkiye and the broader region, continues to strengthen its critical role in global energy through international partnerships, national and international agreements, and a vision focused on uninterrupted supply.”
Gazprom‘s Alexey Miller also extended an official invitation to Abdulvahit Fidan to attend the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum scheduled for June 2025.
BOTAS also emphasized that the company’s role in international energy cooperation continues to grow through strategic alliances and energy diplomacy.
