The first meeting of the High-Level Trade Dialogue between Türkiye and the European Union (EU) will be held today.

The meeting aims to address issues such as the difficulties arising from the visa requirements imposed by EU countries on Turkish citizens and the insufficiency of country quotas for the road transport sector.

According to a statement from the Turkish Ministry of Trade, the inaugural meeting of the High-Level Trade Dialogue between Türkiye and the EU will take place in Brussels today.

The meetings will be attended by official delegations and representatives of the private sector and will be chaired by Minister Omer Bolat and European Commission Vice-President Valdis Dombrovskis.

The agenda for the meetings includes discussions on increasing mutual trade, initiating negotiations to expand the Customs Union, efforts to adapt to the green transition, addressing the issues caused by the visa requirements imposed on Turkish citizens by EU countries, and tackling the insufficiency of country quotas for the road transport sector.

Following the meeting, Minister Bolat and Dombrovskis are scheduled to hold a joint press conference.
