Türkiye and Cambodia forge media partnership for mutual growth
An agreement titled “Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Field of Media and Communication” has been signed between Türkiye and Cambodia.
Fahrettin Altun, the Communications Director of the Presidency, met with Sok Chenda Sophea, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia, along with his accompanying delegation at the Communications Directorate.
Emphasizing the significance attached to burgeoning relations between the two countries, Altun stated that they view reciprocal visits and the agreements signed during these visits as significant steps towards deepening and expanding their relations.
Altun remarked, “Cooperation in the media sector will have positive implications across all areas,” underscoring that the friendship between Türkiye and Cambodia is also reflected in agreements concerning communication and media.
MoU will positively affect bilateral relations including trade, investment, culture, and tourism
“In this context, we value the collaboration established in February between the Cambodia News Agency and the Anadolu Agency (AA). With the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Field of Media and Communication, we aim to further strengthen the amicable relations between our countries and enhance cooperation in the fields of media and communication. Within this framework, our countries will collaborate on communication and digital literacy, combating disinformation, public diplomacy, and media and publishing, strengthening, promoting, and developing exchanges of information and experience.
The Memorandum of Understanding will facilitate the exchange of information and experience between the two countries in the fields of media and communication, allowing for the sharing of best practices and experiences. Additionally, meetings, seminars, workshops, trainings, and conferences will be organized to facilitate reciprocal visits between officials and experts in the fields of media, communication, and publishing. We believe that cooperation in communication and media will have a positive impact on bilateral relations, spanning from trade to investment, culture to tourism,” Altun said.
Türkiye’s notable efforts to combat disinformation
Altun highlighted Türkiye’s status as one of the leading countries globally in terms of both communication and media, as well as its knowledge, accumulation, and experience regarding digitization and its opportunities and vulnerabilities. He noted that Türkiye has undertaken vital efforts in combating disinformation, which has become a global threat with the advent of digitization.
Altun expressed that the Presidency has effectively tackled disinformation at national, regional, and global levels.
Sok Chenda Sophea, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia expressed great satisfaction in working closely with Türkiye in the fields of media and communication, strengthening cooperation in this area, and sharing experiences.
Following the inter-delegation meeting, Fahrettin Altun and Sok Chenda Sophea signed the memorandum of understanding between the two countries.
