Turkish Petroleum (TP), the country’s fuel giant with an extensive network of over 800 branches, has been acquired by Zeren Group. This news comes after Zeren Group’s previous acquisition of Alpet, another prominent player in the Turkish fuel market.

The future of the Turkish Petroleum brand and whether it will merge with Alpet remains uncertain. This hinges on the decision of the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK).

The foundations of Turkish Petroleum were laid in 1963 by Turkish Petroleum Corporation. Since 2009, the fuel stations have continued their operations as TP Petrol Distribution.

In April 2017, TP Petrol Distribution, which was privatized by Turkuaz Petrol, a fuel distribution company affiliated with Zulfikarlar Holding, through the largest acquisition of 2016, continued its activities under the Turkish Petroleum brand.

With approximately 307,000 cubic meters of storage capacity, nine filling facilities, and over 800 fuel stations, TP Petrol Distribution remains a strong player in the fuel sector.
