The Turkish government’s main economic goal is to curb inflation while maintaining robust and sustainable growth, Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz said on Saturday.

Ahead of the Justice and Development Party’s (AK Party) 8th Ordinary Grand Congress, a dinner reception was held in Ankara to honor foreign political party representatives, ambassadors, diplomats, and representatives of international nongovernment organizations (NGO)s.

Speaking at the event, Yilmaz outlined the government’s economic agenda and key priorities.

He emphasized that the new economic program is primarily focused on reducing inflation, acknowledging that it remains relatively high.

“At the same time, we aim to ensure stable and inclusive growth. We are working to reduce inflation, heal the wounds of the earthquake, and address new priorities,” Yilmaz stated.

“We have two key priorities in this regard. One is to boost manufacturing, growth, and employment, and the other is to enhance social welfare. However, these are not short-term objectives,” he added.

‘We are helping Syria’

Speaking about Syria, Yilmaz stated Türkiye is working to achieve stability through political processes while ensuring that displaced Syrians can return to their country voluntarily and with dignity.

He reiterated Türkiye is supporting Syria’s reconstruction and called on the international community to lift sanctions imposed on the former regime.

“We unconditionally support Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. International assistance is essential for the country’s reconstruction. These sanctions were imposed on the old regime, but that regime no longer exists. Now, the Syrian people are trying to rebuild their country,” he said.
