Turkish energy minister heads to US for furthering petroleum partnership

Türkiye’s Energy and Natural Resources Minister, Alparslan Bayraktar, will visit Houston, Texas, on March 11-12 to attend CERAWeek 2025, an energy conference organized by S&P Global.

As part of his visit, a new cooperation agreement is expected to be signed between the state-owned Turkish Petroleum Corporation (TPAO) and U.S.-based TransAtlantic Petroleum, according to Turkish news outlet milliyet.com.tr. However, details of the agreement have not yet been disclosed.

Founded in 1985, TransAtlantic Petroleum conducts international onshore operations outside the U.S., particularly in Türkiye and Bulgaria.

Bayraktar will also highlight Türkiye’s energy investment opportunities during conference sessions and hold bilateral meetings with Libyan Minister of Oil and Gas Khalifa Abdulsadek and Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi to discuss possible Turkish investments in the region.
