Turkish construction firm Esta to sign $1.3B fertilizer deal in Kazakhstan

The Kazakh government and Turkish construction giant Esta will sign a $1.3 billion investment agreement for the construction of a fertilizer plant, the Prime Minister’s Office announced Tuesday.
According to a statement, Prime Minister Oljas Bektenov met with Esta Construction CEO Mustafa Toprak in Astana on Tuesday to discuss investment cooperation.
During the meeting, Bektenov emphasized the government’s commitment to developing the country’s agro-industrial complex and highlighted recent efforts to support farmers.
“In 2024, we achieved a record harvest and allocated 700 billion tenge to support farmers. Ensuring access to high-quality and affordable mineral fertilizers is a key priority for us. Therefore, this project is crucial not only for meeting domestic demand but also for export opportunities,” Bektenov said.
Following the meeting, Bektenov instructed relevant state authorities to finalize an investment agreement with the company within two weeks for the construction of the fertilizer plant.
Fertilizer plant near Kuryk Port
Under the agreement, Esta Construction will build a fertilizer plant near Kuryk Port on Kazakhstan’s Caspian Sea coast.
The facility is expected to produce up to 700,000 metric tons (771,604 tonnes) of urea and 42,000 tons of ammonia annually, reducing Kazakhstan’s dependence on imported fertilizers and supplying the agricultural sector with high-value products.
Additionally, the project will employ around 3,000 specialists during construction and create 400 permanent jobs once the plant is operational.
Founded in 2006, Esta is a Russia-based Turkish construction firm specializing in major projects across Russia, including the construction of Krasnodar Stadium, the country’s first luxury concept sports complex.
