Turkish Airlines rolls out 24-hour free refund option for flights

Turkish Airlines, Türkiye’s national flag carrier, announced on Saturday that it will offer a free ticket refund option for passengers who cancel within 24 hours of booking.

According to the airline’s statement, passengers may receive a full refund without any deductions if they cancel their tickets within the first 24 hours of purchase.

“If your travel plans are uncertain, don’t worry: You can cancel tickets purchased via our website or mobile app within 24 hours, free of charge,” Turkish Airlines announced its new policy.

The offer also applies to AJet, the low-cost subsidiary of Turkish Airlines.

Terms and conditions

The 24-hour free refund policy applies exclusively to tickets purchased through Turkish Airlines’ official website or mobile application. Tickets booked through travel agencies or third-party platforms are not eligible.

To qualify, the refund request must be made within 24 hours of purchasing the ticket. Additionally, the passenger’s first flight must be scheduled to depart at least seven days (168 hours) after the time of the refund request. This requirement allows the airline to manage schedule adjustments and operational planning.

Importantly, the timing is calculated by the hour, not by the calendar day. For instance, if a flight is set to depart within 168 hours of the refund request, the ticket will not be eligible for a refund under this policy.

Tickets that have already been changed or reissued are excluded from the offer. Similarly, tickets for disrupted flights—such as those affected by cancellations or major delays—do not qualify.

Award tickets purchased using miles or loyalty points are eligible, but they are subject to the same rules and restrictions.

The policy only covers the base ticket price. Additional services—such as extra baggage, seat selection, or special meals—are not refundable under this campaign.
